Chicago. The Windy City. Chi-Town. Chi-City. ChicagoLand. The Jewel of the Midwest. Or as I like to call it, the best place on earth.
Growing up, I traveled to Chicago often to visit. Every visit was more exciting than the last one and I continued to fall head-over-heels in love with everything about this extraordinary place. Thus, when I became old enough, I took a leap of faith and moved 170 miles away from home.
After I got settled in to my new life, a friend told me that "once you live here, Chicago is in your blood," and let me tell you, she was completely correct. So, here are five reason why Chicago has stolen my heart:
One: Chicagoans
The people of Chicago are a breed like no other; they have a New York hustle with a Midwest personality. AKA the perfect combination of kindness and busyness that floods the chaotic streets. It is exciting to be a part of a city with such a diverse and amazing population. Not to mention, everyone in Chicago loves Chicago (rightfully so).
Two: The Buildings
Skyscrapers! The architecture around the city is breathtaking. Every day when I cruise down Lakeshore Drive, I gaze up as shadows from the tall buildings begin to encompass my car. My heart beats a little faster because I know this is where the I am meant to be. I will always be in awe of Chicago's brilliant skyline.
Three: Pizza!
Chicago: home of the famous deep dish pizza. Too cheesy? I hope so. After taking a bite into a piece of our delicious pizza pie there is no going back, seriously (no really I mean it, don’t spit it out, that would be rude).
Four: Lake Michigan
During all of Chicago's four seasons, Lake Michigan is a beautiful sight, whether the waves are crashing against the shore or it is iced over and drenched in snow. However, the lake is the most fun in summer for obvious reasons: beaches, boats and bikinis! Plus, the cool lakefront breeze gives patrons a relief from the heat.
Five: The Endless Possibilities
Chicago is a land of opportunity. In this limitless city, there is a place for everyone. So, sit back, take a deep breath, and soak up everything that Chicago has to offer. You will not be disappointed. Trust me on this one.
